Are certifications worth it while job hunting? after 15 years as an accountant

I saw that many postings ask for a specific certification. There are 15 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I can study evenings. Did a certificate help you get hired?

The workforce centre told me about training funds I qualified for. It covered most of my course.

Check a dozen job postings first. If most ask for the same certificate, it is probably worth it.
