Are certifications worth it while job hunting? after 15 years as a data-entry clerk

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as a data-entry clerk. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I can study evenings. Is there free funding?

The workforce centre told me about training funds I qualified for. It covered most of my course.
