Are certifications worth it while job hunting? after 13 years as a recruiter

I saw that many postings ask for a specific certification. There are 13 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I am unsure whether employers value it. Did a certificate help you get hired?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
