Are certifications worth it while job hunting? - 5 months and counting

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as a quality inspector. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I am unsure whether employers value it. Is there free funding?

Check a dozen job postings first. If most ask for the same certificate, it is probably worth it.
