Are certifications worth it while job hunting? - 4 weeks in

I saw that many postings ask for a specific certification. There are 5 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I am unsure whether employers value it. Which ones are overrated?

A hands-on course with a project helped more than a purely online one.

The workforce centre told me about training funds I qualified for. It covered most of my course.
