Are certifications worth it while job hunting? - 3 months and counting

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as an HR coordinator. Any experience at all would help. I would like to use funding if possible. Did a certificate help you get hired?

Check a dozen job postings first. If most ask for the same certificate, it is probably worth it.
