Are certifications worth it while job hunting? - 12 weeks in

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as a welding apprentice. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I am unsure whether employers value it. Did a certificate help you get hired?

Check a dozen job postings first. If most ask for the same certificate, it is probably worth it.
