8-month résumé gap, advice? - what worked for you?

I took time out to care for a family member after working as a mechanic. I am in Tampa, in case local advice matters. I am not sure how much to explain. Did anyone get past it?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
