7-month résumé gap, advice? after 18 years as a janitorial supervisor

I have been out of work for 7 months and worry about the gap. There are 18 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I am nervous about being filtered out. Did anyone get past it?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
