6-month résumé gap, advice? - what worked for you?

I have been out of work for 6 months and worry about the gap. I do not usually post, so bear with me. I am not sure how much to explain. How did you handle it on your résumé?

I was hired after a 6-month gap. The manager said the skills test mattered more than the dates.
