5-month résumé gap, advice? after 5 years as a line cook

I took time out to care for a family member after working as a line cook. I worked as a line cook before this. I have done some volunteering and a course during that time. Did anyone get past it?

I was hired after a 5-month gap. The manager said the skills test mattered more than the dates.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
