5-month résumé gap, advice? after 17 years as a paralegal

I have been out of work for 5 months and worry about the gap. I worked as a paralegal before this. I have done some volunteering and a course during that time.

I listed the volunteering and course under the same dates and kept the explanation to a sentence in the cover letter.
