Work-search log: how detailed does it need to be? - what worked for you?

I have been applying to about 17 jobs a week as a home health aide, but I am unsure what my state wants in the log. I do not usually post, so bear with me. My state says to keep records for a year. Do interviews and workshops count?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
