Work-search log: how detailed does it need to be? - what worked for you?

I have been applying to about 4 jobs a week as a recruiter, but I am unsure what my state wants in the log. Any experience at all would help. Some days I only network by email or attend a job fair. Do interviews and workshops count?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

I record the date, the company, the job title, how I applied and any contact name. It takes a minute each and it covered me when I was asked for proof.
