Work-search log: how detailed does it need to be? (update)

The certification asks how many work-search activities I did and I do not know what qualifies. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. My state says to keep records for a year. What do you record?

I was asked for my log once, after six months. Having it in a spreadsheet made it painless.
