Work-search log: how detailed does it need to be? (update)

I have been applying to about 7 jobs a week as a production planner, but I am unsure what my state wants in the log. There are 7 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. My state says to keep records for a year.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.

I was asked for my log once, after six months. Having it in a spreadsheet made it painless.
