Work-search log: how detailed does it need to be? (St. Louis)

The certification asks how many work-search activities I did and I do not know what qualifies. I worked as a graphic designer before this. My state says to keep records for a year.

I was asked for my log once, after six months. Having it in a spreadsheet made it painless.
