Work-search log: how detailed does it need to be?

I am keeping a spreadsheet of applications, but I worry it is not what the agency expects. It has been weighing on me all week. I also did a résumé workshop at the library. What do you record?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 8 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
