Work-search log: how detailed does it need to be? - any advice?

I have been applying to about 7 jobs a week as a web developer, but I am unsure what my state wants in the log. I am in Sacramento, in case local advice matters. Some days I only network by email or attend a job fair. Has anyone been audited?
