Work-search log: how detailed does it need to be? - any advice?

The certification asks how many work-search activities I did and I do not know what qualifies. There are 18 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. My state says to keep records for a year. Do interviews and workshops count?

I was asked for my log once, after six months. Having it in a spreadsheet made it painless.
