Work-search log: how detailed does it need to be? after 18 years as a welding apprentice

I have been applying to about 18 jobs a week as a welding apprentice, but I am unsure what my state wants in the log. I do not usually post, so bear with me. My state says to keep records for a year. Has anyone been audited?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
