Work-search log: how detailed does it need to be? - 8 months and counting

I am keeping a spreadsheet of applications, but I worry it is not what the agency expects. There are 18 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. My state says to keep records for a year. Do interviews and workshops count?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
