What counts as a work search for weekly certification? - any advice?

I have been applying to about 14 jobs a week as a mechanic, but I am unsure what my state wants in the log. Any experience at all would help. My state says to keep records for a year. Has anyone been audited?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
