Severance and unemployment, do they overlap? - first time posting

I signed a severance agreement and I am worried about how to report it. I am in Boston, in case local advice matters. The agreement mentions a release and a payment schedule.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
