Severance and unemployment, do they overlap? - first time posting

I was offered severance of 6 weeks after being let go as a school bus driver and I am unsure how it affects benefits. I worked as a school bus driver before this. I also wonder about the job-search requirement.

Some states only count certain kinds of severance. A local workforce centre could tell me which.
