Severance and unemployment, do they overlap?

I signed a severance agreement and I am worried about how to report it. I am in Columbus, in case local advice matters. I also wonder about the job-search requirement. Did you file straight away?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
