Severance and unemployment, do they overlap? - any advice?

I was offered severance of 3 weeks after being let go as an accounts payable clerk and I am unsure how it affects benefits. It has been a long 3 weeks. The agreement mentions a release and a payment schedule. How did your state treat it?

Some states only count certain kinds of severance. A local workforce centre could tell me which.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
