Severance and unemployment, do they overlap? after 9 years as a logistics coordinator

I was offered severance of 9 weeks after being let go as a logistics coordinator and I am unsure how it affects benefits. I have a mortgage and need to plan. Did you file straight away?

Some states only count certain kinds of severance. A local workforce centre could tell me which.
