Severance and unemployment, do they overlap? after 9 years as a hotel front-desk agent

I was offered severance of 9 weeks after being let go as a hotel front-desk agent and I am unsure how it affects benefits. It has been a long 25 weeks. I also wonder about the job-search requirement.
