Severance and unemployment, do they overlap? after 7 years as a hotel front-desk agent

I was offered severance of 7 weeks after being let go as a hotel front-desk agent and I am unsure how it affects benefits. I worked as a hotel front-desk agent before this. I have a mortgage and need to plan. How did your state treat it?

I filed on day one anyway and reported the severance honestly. The agency decided what to do about the timing.
