Severance and unemployment, do they overlap? after 5 years as an office manager

I signed a severance agreement and I am worried about how to report it. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I have a mortgage and need to plan. Did you file straight away?

I filed on day one anyway and reported the severance honestly. The agency decided what to do about the timing.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 2 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
