Severance and unemployment, do they overlap? - 3 months and counting

I was offered severance of 5 weeks after being let go as a warehouse supervisor and I am unsure how it affects benefits. I have a mortgage and need to plan.

I filed on day one anyway and reported the severance honestly. The agency decided what to do about the timing.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
