Not sure if my job search activity counts - what worked for you?

I have been applying to about 12 jobs a week as an electrician's helper, but I am unsure what my state wants in the log. Any experience at all would help. Some days I only network by email or attend a job fair. What do you record?

I record the date, the company, the job title, how I applied and any contact name. It takes a minute each and it covered me when I was asked for proof.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
