Not sure if my job search activity counts - what worked for you?

I have been applying to about 8 jobs a week as a software tester, but I am unsure what my state wants in the log. My state says to keep records for a year. Do interviews and workshops count?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
