Not sure if my job search activity counts (Birmingham)

I have been applying to about 7 jobs a week as an IT help-desk technician, but I am unsure what my state wants in the log. I am in Birmingham, in case local advice matters. My state says to keep records for a year. What do you record?

I was asked for my log once, after six months. Having it in a spreadsheet made it painless.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
