Not sure if my job search activity counts - any advice?

I have been applying to about 3 jobs a week as an electrician's helper, but I am unsure what my state wants in the log. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. My state says to keep records for a year. Has anyone been audited?

I was asked for my log once, after six months. Having it in a spreadsheet made it painless.
