Losing employer insurance, where should I look? after 10 years as a home health aide

My family's coverage ended with the layoff and we have a prescription we cannot skip. There are 10 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. The COBRA notice arrived with a very high price. What did you choose and how was the process?
