Is COBRA worth it after a layoff? (update)

I was offered COBRA and the monthly cost is more than I expected as a line cook. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. My old employer will not help with the premium. How did you decide?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.

If you have a planned treatment, COBRA can make sense for a few months. Otherwise look at the marketplace first.
