Is COBRA worth it after a layoff? - 3 months and counting

The COBRA quote for my family is $750 a month and I do not know how to afford it. Any experience at all would help. My old employer will not help with the premium. Did anyone switch mid-year?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.

Check what the notice says about the election period and when coverage starts. Mine allowed a short window to choose.
