Is COBRA worth it after a layoff? - 3 months and counting

The COBRA quote for my family is $850 a month and I do not know how to afford it. There are 15 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I saw that marketplace plans might cost less. Is the decision time really that tight?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
