ID verification problems, anyone solved this? - first time posting

I do not have a current driver's licence and they want one. I have been trying to stay organised about it. The in-person office has long lines. Do I need an appointment?

Check the list of accepted documents on the official site. Mine included things I did not expect, like a passport card.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 6 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
