Health coverage after losing my job: marketplace or Medicaid? after 17 years as an IT help-desk technician

My family's coverage ended with the layoff and we have a prescription we cannot skip. Any experience at all would help. I think my income this year might qualify for a subsidy. How fast did coverage start?
