Got severance, how does it affect benefits? - what worked for you?

I signed a severance agreement and I am worried about how to report it. I do not usually post, so bear with me. I also wonder about the job-search requirement. How did your state treat it?

Before signing, I asked a friend who is a lawyer to look at the agreement. It was a short conversation and worth it.

Some states only count certain kinds of severance. A local workforce centre could tell me which.
