Got severance, how does it affect benefits? - what worked for you?

I signed a severance agreement and I am worried about how to report it. I am in Chicago, in case local advice matters. The agreement mentions a release and a payment schedule. Did you file straight away?

I filed on day one anyway and reported the severance honestly. The agency decided what to do about the timing.
