Got severance, how does it affect benefits? - what worked for you?

I signed a severance agreement and I am worried about how to report it. I am in Cleveland, in case local advice matters. I have a mortgage and need to plan. How did your state treat it?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
