Got severance, how does it affect benefits?, payroll clerk here

I signed a severance agreement and I am worried about how to report it. Any experience at all would help. The agreement mentions a release and a payment schedule. Did you file straight away?

I filed on day one anyway and reported the severance honestly. The agency decided what to do about the timing.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
