Got severance, how does it affect benefits? - any advice?

I was offered severance of 15 weeks after being let go as a paralegal and I am unsure how it affects benefits. I have been trying to stay organised about it. I also wonder about the job-search requirement. How did your state treat it?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.

Some states only count certain kinds of severance. A local workforce centre could tell me which.
