Got severance, how does it affect benefits? after 16 years as a teaching assistant

I was offered severance of 16 weeks after being let go as a teaching assistant and I am unsure how it affects benefits. I have been trying to stay organised about it. I have a mortgage and need to plan.

I filed on day one anyway and reported the severance honestly. The agency decided what to do about the timing.
