Got severance, how does it affect benefits? after 15 years as a marketing coordinator

My employer is paying severance in instalments and I am not sure whether to file now. There are 15 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I also wonder about the job-search requirement. Did you file straight away?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 11 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

Rules differ by state. I called the claims line and asked directly, then wrote down the answer and the date.
