Got severance, how does it affect benefits? - 8 months and counting

I was offered severance of 6 weeks after being let go as a logistics coordinator and I am unsure how it affects benefits. It has been a long 2 weeks. I have a mortgage and need to plan. Did you file straight away?

I filed on day one anyway and reported the severance honestly. The agency decided what to do about the timing.

Rules differ by state. I called the claims line and asked directly, then wrote down the answer and the date.
